Shoo-Fly Cake - Favorite Recipes of Pennsylvania



4 cups flour
1 (1 pound) package brown sugar
1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups boiling water
1 cup molasses
2 teaspoons baking soda

Combine flour, brown sugar and butter; work into fine crumbs. Reserve 1 1/2 cups of mix for topping. Mix water, molasses and baking soda; ad to remaining crumbs. Mix well or until batter is very thin. Pour into 8x12 inch greased and floured pan. Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups of crumbs on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. 

Makes 8 servings.
