Korean Bulgogi Burgers - The Great Big Burger Book


( I love Bulgogi, I can't wait to try this recipe!! )

1 pound ground beef sirloin
3/4 cup grated onion
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon sugar
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons dry sherry
2 cloves garlic, minced

In a medium-sized bowl, gently mix together the beef, 1/2 cup of the onion, 1 teaspoon of the sugar, 1 tablespoon of the soy sauce, the pepper, 1 teaspoon of the sesame oil, 1 tablespoon of the sherry, and the half of the garlic. Form into 4 patties, each 3/4 inch thick.

In a small bowl, mix together the remaining 1/4 cup onion, 1 tablespoon sugar, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil, 2 teaspoons sherry and garlic. set aside for topping.

Lightly oil the grill or a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the burgers to the desired degree of doneness, 3-5 minutes per side for medium rare.

Makes 4 burgers.
